One of the new project with Wind turbine blade manufacturing factory is hiring NDT technicians/engineers with ASNT SNT TC 1A certification for their process plant based at Chennai.
 
Job Location: Chennai,India 
Production NDT Technician

This role is a part of Production Engineering services team, working as NDT Technician supporting different Blades factories in worldwide.

Responsibilities:
•Interpret and evaluate Ultrasonic Testing UT reports with respect to written criteria
•Report observations & recommend re-scan if necessary
•Approve or Reject Ultrasonic Test Inspection reports as per standards
•Quality system update & documentation
•Continuous improvements
•Ability to setup & use NDT (Ultrasonic Testing) equipment’s.
•Perform Hand & Machine Ultrasonic testing -UT scan on Blades

Qualifications:
•Degree/Graduate in Engineering, B.E, B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent.

Competencies:
•Good knowledge on blades manufacturing process.
•Fluent in English / Hindi (Oral & Written)
•Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Power point for reporting day to day developments
•Ability to work under pressures & get things done with quality.

Chimney Ultrasonic thickness Gauging Inservice Inspection by Trinity NDTians





Ultrasonic thickness gauging(UTG) is one of the most reliable method of finding the wall thickness measurement of chimneys in process plants. Usually chimney walls are subjected to severe corrosion due to the passage of exhaust gases and other environmental factors. Presently there are large number of portable Ultrasonic thickness gauging equipment are available to a diversity of thickness gauging applications. Normally for this type of application accuracy of around + or - 0.1mm is practically advisable.

As the surfaces of the Chimneys are usually will be having thick scaling and unevenness, it may not be suitable to carryout direct Ultrasonic thickness gauging and may require to be grinded /polished with emery for better even surface to get consistent and reliable thickness measurement results before thickness measurement.Calibrated Ultrasonic thickness gauging shall be used for all the applications.
ASTM E797 - Procedure for Measuring Thickness by Manual Ultrasonic Pulse-Echo Contact Method can be used for this application. Ultrasonic thickness gauge shall be calibrated every time before use and after use with the master block provided by the Ultrasonic equipment supplier.

Probes are available for room temperature and elevated (high) temperature application similar measuring the wall thickness of boiler pipes and tubes. Its a mandatory requirement by the statutory bodies to ensure that the pressure vessels, boilers and other critical assemblies needs in-service inspection to find the extent of corrosion.

The personnel qualified and certified to ASNT SNT TC 1A Level I, II requirements can be suitable to perform this NDT inspection technique (Ultrasonic thickness gauging).
